This past Thursday evening, Texas-born songstress Beyoncé made a triumphant return to her roots for the Arlington stop of her Renaissance World Tour. She was met with a hero’s welcome – as she should!
In honor of the singer’s upcoming birthday, Beyonce recently took to social media asking her fans to come in their “most fabulous silver fashions” to “celebrate Virgo season in the house of chrome”. North Texas fans refuse to disappoint Bey and came adorned in a vast array of creative outfits, all donned in glitter, shimmer, sequence, and of course, iconic Texas cowboy hats.
“It feels so good to be home,” the Grammy winner, 42, told the Dallas-area audience at AT&T Stadium, which erupted into thunderous applause after she opened the show with her 2003 smash hit, “Dangerously in Love,” with a hauntingly beautiful voice that captivated the audience. She wore a silver, iridescent, bridal-esque gown with a long veil train, giving off the glow of an intergalactic space queen.
She then segued into “Flaws and All” and the crowd crooned along in tandem word for word, swaying in unison as they looked on in awe, cellphones in hand. Bey then crossed from the center of the stage to sit atop a grand piano to perform “1 + 1,” a beloved crowd favorite.
The Renaissance experience is rivaled to none, we’re happy to report. Visually, it’s just different, and cutting edge in its entirety. From the talented brigade of diverse dancers, to its epic concept imagery between changeovers, to a sound system that pulsated crisply with each deep house reverberation, Club Renaissance never once missed a beat.
The only thing more very than all of the technology and vigorous dance moves of Club Renaissance was Beyoncé herself. As a singer, she proved to be righteously elastic with trills to thrill and vocal runs that ran fluidly atop every different musical interlude (and there were many sharp turns and frantic rhythms in which to contend). As a performer and as a curator-producer, her sonic choices and visual cues were often daring.
Since the initial start of Beyonce’s Renaissance World Tour in May, the singer has shattered multiple records, including scoring the biggest one-month gross in Billboard Boxscore history, raking in a whopping $127.6 million in July of this year.
‘Dallas, y’all did that” Beyonce beamed in approval at the crowd’s ability to perform the proper “mute” challenge during the ballad, “ENERGY”. “I am VERY impressed with that mute” was the reaffirming assurance the Dallas-area crowd sought and erupted with gleeful cheers at the Queen’s compliment.
Before concluding the evening with the “Summer Renaissance” — her euphoric album ender that samples Donna Summer’s iconic disco hit “I Feel Love” — she thanked the AT&T Stadium crowd for their “good old Southern hospitality.”
And Bey’s homecoming has just begun. This weekend, she’ll return to her native stomping grounds of Houston to play back-to-back shows at NRG Stadium.
